Ali Curung Sports and Recreation Hall

The LGANT Infrastructure Division is involved in the delivery of community buildings to our members. An example of which is the Ali Curung Sports and Recreational Hall.

The restoration of the Ali Curung Sports and Recreational Hall was funded through the Communities in Crisis Initiative (CICI). This initiative is aimed at providing funding to construct safe facilities for indigenous communities which are not operating effectively. The CICI project at Ali Curung was delivered in two stages. The first stage comprised of building the sports field precinct which included a soft ball field in addition to a multi-use field for other sports such as soccer, hockey touch football and cricket. Furthermore, included in stage one was the BMX track for the community.

The second stage of the Ali Curung CICI project focused on the renovation and restoration of the Recreational Hall. This included the upgrade of electrical components to comply with Australian Standards, installation of sky lights, new plumbing fixtures, air-conditioning upgrade, new doors throughout, the fixing of windows, insulation in walls, permanent seating, fire fighting equipment, and refixing of existing cladding to the exterior and roof. The recreational hall is used for community functions and indoor sports.

LGANT were the project managers for the Ali Curung Sports and Recreation Hall project, and played a pivotal role in the success of this great facility for the community.
