A note from our President

The LGANT Executive held its last meeting this week and will not meet again until late September after the elections.

As you would know, Councils go into caretaker mode from 3 August in preparation for their elections.

To all the current elected members and prospective candidates standing for the elections, I wish you all well with your campaigning. Representing your community and standing up for the issues important to residents can be a challenge, however, is also very rewarding and a privilege.
To all retiring elected members, on behalf of the local government sector, thank you for your contributions during the past term of five and a half years. I have no doubt many of you will remain active members of your community in different ways after a well-deserved rest.
I would also like to thank the retiring LGANT Executive members for their support in my role as President of LGANT and for your contributions to advancing the work of the LGANT.

I look forward to learning about the election results after 4 September and seeing councils and LGANT carry on their good work for our Territory communities for the next four years.
Damien Ryan, President

Local Government Association of the Northern Territory
